The psychology book I'm reading amuses me; rather, the descriptions it gives of tension between differeing schools of thought amuse me. One says we have no free will, another that we act from unseen inner tension, another that we react because of basic needs not being met, another says we act or react when personal attainment is thwarted, and yet another says our behaviour is not reactant because of animal needs because we're human and therefore special. They're all right, only none of them will admit it. We act for all sorts of reasons, including the animal (we are animals).
