Beguilements of the Desolate
I've always had a fascination with desolate places, places as removed from human imprint as we can manage on this big blue marble. Not the cold ones, though. I like deserts. I've never been able to put a finger on quite why I have this peculiar fascionation with places few people go, where you can imagine there are no others to infringe on your peace.
One of these days I want to visit Uluru, Death Valley, and the Salton Sea. The latter not only because there's isolation, but also because it was abandoned, and the abandoned has its own beguilements.
