By the numbers
I was watching TVO's Big Ideas, a lecture given by John Mighton at the Perimiter Institute, and all I could think was "Why was no one like this around when I was in grade school?" I have a love of numbers, math theory, Peano curves, Julia sets, Pi, yet almost no ability to derive anything mathematical. I love the theory, but can't perform the functions. I am in envy, awe, of anyone who can. I think, next to my desire to be a Biblical scholar despite being an atheist, the thing I most desire, is to be a math whiz.
