Diamonds

I never understood the attraction of diamonds. They seem so without life to me. Plain, colourless. I know white and clear are supposed to be the conglomeration of all colours, but diamonds still look dull. I've always preferred my birthstone. There is so much more depth there, so much more of something to look at, to find. Look at the star in the centre of an uncut sapphire, something that reflects the heavens above nestled in the blue of a clear evening sky, deep - yet a little smoky - perhaps the cloud of dreams that exists between the knowable and unknowable.
