Disabled person

Someone mentioned choosing identity-first rather than person-first language regarding their disability. I use identity-first language, though sometimes the other gets used depending on the situation. I don't begrudge people using person with disability rather than disabled person, but using the former always feels, to me, like my disability is outside of me, like something I put on, like it's an accessory. It isn't. It's me. It isn't all of me, but it informs almost everything I do. I've never known life without it. I am a disabled person. I have a disability, like I have blond hair and blue eyes.
