I've spent years not remembering certain things, then something will pop into my memory and I will miss it, wonder what happened to it, and long for it again. One of the things I miss most is a mineral sample set that my mother got for me when she was working for a geologist (in the uranium disposal field) while she was finishing her own degree in geology. There were about thirty samples in the set, all good sized pieces. my favourite was the mica. It was, to my child’s eyes, the most pretty thing, all smokey, shiny, and layered.
