The idea:
Think about your favourite cup of tea, coffee, or other warm beverage, and the feelings they bring you.
Do:
- Create a background using a warm or soothing colour using whatever medium you prefer, including ink, paint, coloured pencil, watercolour, or decorative papers.
- Cut out a cup shape from a source of your choice - an image from a magazine, a cup shape from the text of an old book, or doodle a cup shape.
- Decorate the cup with patterns, textures, images, stickers, stamps, or words that evoke the feelings you thought of above.
- Add some descriptive text to the page about your favourite warm drink that talks about flavours, scents, memories, or anything else.
- You could embellish the page with ephemera like tea labels, a part of the packaging, or pieces of other things that bring you comfort.
Notes:
- You could try collage to decorate the cup shape or the rest of the page, or to use as the base for the entire expression to help add some texture or interest.
- It's a good opportunity to experiment with different hand-lettering styles, calligraphy, or fonts.
- Don't forget to add different types of materials, like different types of paper, fabric, and found objects.
- You could use a photo of your favourite mug as the centrepiece.
- Add a sachet of your favourite tea, some ground coffee of your favourite blend, or some essential oil droplets on an enveloped tab.
- Create a series of pages about all your favourite drinks, foods, and mugs.
