- Mix your watercolours so they're liquid, pour them onto your surface, and allow them to blend together.
- This can be done without an underlying drawing or plan, where you allow the washes to play with each other. Let each wash of colour dry before you run another.
- You can also apply masking fluid to block off certain areas (such as drawings you've made on the surface), then removed after. This can be done in layers, and at each stage different parts of the masking fluid can be removed or more added.
