108

We finished the Tai Chi set this week, all 108 movements of it.

I cannot yet get through the whole set without some form of prompting, but that will come. I's only a beginner after all. But I can get from the opening bow through several strikings of tigers, sweepings of lotus, presentings of cookie, strummings of pei pa, and the closing bow.

The bow involves clutching the thumb in a manner that I cannot describe except to say that when it is being done, if one looks at it from the right angle, it resembles the yin-yang symbol. (Women grasp the right thumb in the left hand, and men grasp the left thumb in the right hand.)

I think I'll have to start going through the set every day, because I've started to notice that on days when I don't do Tai Chi, I feel a little dopey and less energetic. It maketh not for the fully active day, let me tell ya. Which makes it not quite so easy to get things done, like work, chores, y'know, the basics.
