First Aid

When I was 14 years of age, and still a member of that paramilitary organisation known as Girl Guides, we were taught a full St. John's Ambulance course in first aid. At the end of it we all had Standard badges, which was not normally legal at the time. At age 14 you're only supposed to have Emergency badges, and Standard was not allowed until age 16. The only reason we were allowed the adult badge, was because of the Girl Guides.
I recall doing extremely well on the course and the exam, but I couldn' tell you what my final mark was. I couldn' even now tell you how to perform CPR.
What could I tell you? The only thing I recall how to treat, is a sucking chest wound.
Of all the useless bloody things to remember. I don't know about you, but I rarely come upon anyone suffering a sucking chest wound. In fact, it's been so rare that it's been never.
Still, you never know.
Addendum: Sucking Chest Wound might make a good band name if I were 14 years-old and in a band that played nowhere but my parents’ basement.
