Objectivity

The idea that objectivity is an achievable state is something that we have to let go of because it is not possible. Much like it is impossible to perform a completely selfless act.
In the end, no matter how altruistic you think you're being, you still get something out of it - whether that be satisfaction and a feel-good moment because you've done something generous, or some other thing - you still get something out of everything you do. This is not a wrong thing. We've just been taught to believe that doing things for gain is selfish, and that selfishness is evil, that we are somehow dirtied or cheapened by it.
Not so.
