The Bathroom

The trouble with sitting around with neither the television or radio on, is that you start to hear things. You start to hear noises you've never heard before.

I've got fairly sensitive hearing, and I'm fairly sensitive to the physical vibrations of where I live.

I can hear clicking noises from the kitchen, and dripping in the pipes inside my walls. They're pipes that need replacing, pipes with cracks and leaks and creaks.

Sometimes you think the walls will cave like a souffle, when someone in another flat turns on the taps in their shower.

The ceilings in there are cracked and chipping. In my bathroom, that is. It was supposed to be remodelled over a year ago, but they haven't got 'round to it yet. One night I had a dream that the person upstairs had started to take a shower and the water came jetting through a three-inch-wide hole that suddenly appeared in my ceiling over the tub, pouring down heavily.
