Learning the language

Someone online once just told me about a project they have to do for school. They think it's a silly, but no one in school ever really thinks anything their teachers tell them is worth knowing or remembering.

The project is they have to keep a notebook in which, every day, they must write down three words they don't know, along with their definitions.

It's a very worthwhile endeavour in my estimation, given the general state of literacy, or lack thereof. We've all noticed a decline or lack.

I think I may do this myself.

I've learned that one of the best ways to learn and remember a word is to actually use it. So, repeat the word to yourself a few times, find some ways to use it in a sentence as soon as you've read it, and write the sentences down in your notebook.
