Having just begun some reading for my humanities course (which is - so far - just detaling some items from early civilisation and prehistory culture), I have come to the conclusion that I like the word "hominid". It's clear, from what the book says, that man - be it in his civilisational habits, or his cultural ones - hasn't changed all that much since the Paleolithic (Pleistocene) era. That aside, though, the word hominid, to me, conjures up images of mankind as an insect. Which, when you think about it, is fairly and particularly apt. We're a very parasitical lot.
