One (of perhaps many) singular, unconnected event or experience in your
life that irrevocably changed you.
One time in high school I was going through a particularly bad time, and had gone to see a counsellor. The next day I just happened to pop that fact out to one of the "cool kids", someone I'd never much talked to before nor liked nor got along with. His friends came by and were asking him to go along with them andhe refused, "No, I'm talking to my friend." I don't know if it changed me as such, but it did make me realise that people could be kind, step out of the roles we traditionally see them in, and think of the needs of others.
It doesn't matter why he did it, why he wanted to, but he showed me a kindness first and foremost, and showed it to me in front of the other cool kids. You know what high school is like - that kind of thing is momentous. It is one of those perfect, simple moments. It touches me even now.
