We are taught that self-confidence comes from within, that self-esteem is something that can't be got from others. I think that is true, but only to a point. There are certain things that we absolutely must have from others, and only so far what we do for ourselves can take us. Sometimes, what we build for ourselves can no longer sustain us. The pscyhe feeds on it like the body feeds on fats when you do not feed it. Eventually it wears thin, and a person can find it tougher and tougher to rebuild when there is no outside stimulation.
