Collation

Every month I do one of the most tedious things imaginable: I collate lists; lists of events, lists of conferences, lists of internships. It's not much of a challenge, it's just somewhat monotonous.

I like to complain about it, of course. But in the same position, who would not? It's not very exciting work, though it's probably a lot more entertaining than working as a tax accountant. I don't understand what sort of stimulation a person could get out of that, unless there's some fetishist turn-on involving the words 'debit', 'credit', and 'expenses', of which I am currently unaware. If you are personally acquainted with the turn-ons of tax accountancy, please don't share. I probably like you, you're probably my friend, but there are things about you which it is probably safer - and more palatable - that I not be aware of. This is one of those things.

The upshot of this tedious work, two upshots actually, is that it takes very little time, and I get paid very nicely for that minute amount of time. I may not enjoy the tedium, but I enjoy it when the cheque comes in and I can then translate it into paid bills, an ordered-in dinner, and spare change for my rations of Coca Cola.

If there are more tedious collation jobs out there that people wish to foist upon another human being, bring 'em on!
