I dreamed of fire that was destoying people's homes, mostly apartment buildings, one by one, and all I could think of was that it was going to take everything I had.
I had apparently been in a fire too, as I had the evidence of burn scars on my arms, and my skin stung in that way it does when you've had a sunburn and subsequently subject yourself to a heat source.
My grandfather was in this one, as he sometimes shows up, and it was the building we moved into when we left Nova Scotia and came to Ontario. Though, in my dream the superintendant of that building was the voice of the woman who is currently the caretaker of where I live now.
Earlier in the day, in the dream, half the side of the building had been taken by fire before they got it under control. I came home later in the evening to smell smoke coming from the hallway closet, and I rushed to tell my grandfather about it, who ignored me. I ran outside to get some firemen, but when we came back inside my grandfather was folding the flaming item up in his hands and putting it out. He was shaking, and I said something about his having had third degree burns before. When we looked in the closet afterwards, there was a half burnt box of toilet paper there, and I remember saying that someone must have set the fire because there was no way for it to have started itself - but no one wanted to consider the possibility.
It'd been ugly weather during the day in the dream, dark, threatening clouds, and we kept waiting for them to go away because we thought they were going to be the cause of another blaze. There was a lot of relief when the clouds blew off.
Little tidbits I remember are at some point going up and down the stairwells in the building stealing cookies out of the boxes that were there, and going through a hospital ward after one of the fires to see all of the victims - all living.
