I was just thinking about all those things we do that we do so innately; often under what some people have come to term "muscle memory". Our minds often don't remember how to do something overtly, but our bodies seem to step right in there and pick up any slack.
I mention this only because the other day when I came home from the store my right hand was full - I am right-handed - and tried to unlock my door with my left hand. It was almost impossible. It got so annoy-making that I put my bags down and used my right hand.
Also, not long ago, I tried to dial a phone number with my left hand, one I know but probably couldn't list off the top of my head, and couldn't do it. As soon as my right hand hit the keypad, though, the number came out without my having to think about it.
Hands really do have minds of their own.
It's all on my mind due to a friend of mine asking me to play cribbage the other day. I haven't played it in over a decade, but it took only a couple of minutes for me to get back into the swing of it all. It's not entirely unlike how much French I actually know. I never think about my knowledge of the language, as it is fairly basic, but it all comes back when I hear someone speaking. Je comprends plus que je parles, that's for damn sure.
