Have a drink on me

I have this friend who seems completely unacquainted with the notion of social graces. Friend isn't a proper term for this gentleman, but acquaintance doesn't suit either. Anyhow. He used to offer me tea, but he's apparently less than stellar when it comes to offering such comfort to anyone else, unless pushed to it. He seems territorial with his comestibles. It seems I've now sunk into whatever level of indifference he's shovelled everyone else. I was there for three hours the other day, and the man didn't offer me a damned thing the entire time I was there.

What made it even more bizarre, is that during my visit we were talking about this couple whose house he had to fix the gas heating in, the wife of which didn't speak English, but who was obviously taking her husband aside and giving him the "offer those men a drink" speech. Not even from this did the lout get clue one.

I have this odd habit: when someone comes into my home, I offer them something to drink. Yes, I'm aware of how socially strange this is, but it's just the way I am.

Someone brung me up proper, they did.

2025 06 12: I remember, too, that I used to have to buy milk for my tea whenever I'd go over there. What a social disaster.
