I don't like to buy books with reviewers' quotations in the front. I've already bought the book, I don't need the sales pitch. Somehow it always seems to mar the untarnished body of the text. The only thing more annoying are books with reviewers' quotations right on the cover. It's more likely to put me off than sell me. I don't feel the same forehead-slapping duh! that I feel when I see the words "a novel" etched into a bookcover under the title. What do they suppose I would assume it was? A leg of lamb and some mint jelly?
