Weebles wobble and still fall down

There's this tiled foyer at work that admits access to the drivers' room, the public washrooms, and the dispatch office. When it's wet outside this tiled floor gets, you got it, wet. It's tile. Wet tile gets, you got it, slippery. There are appropriate mats in there, but it's still tile; it's still wet; it's still slippery.

A few weeks ago a customer using the public washroom slipped and fell in the foyer. She made a formal complaint about it. She didn't hurt herself, thankfully. When she made the complaint, though, one of the things she said was, "There wasn't even a 'watch your step' sign!"

Now, correct me if I'm way off base here, but ... assuming you are a cogniscent adult in full possession of your faculties (both physical and mental), do you really need to be told to watch your step?

This reminds me of a couple of years back when I fell on a broken sidewalk and broke my finger. Someone told me I should sue the city; and, being into that whole self-responsibility thing, all I could think was, "But I'm the one who drank the beer!"
