Willow Weep for Me is one of the more complex songs on the jazz vocal repertoire. So much so, in fact, that when it was originally penned the writer had the devil's own time trying to get it published, because all the publishers of the day thought it was too complicated. Of course, part of that problem might also have been the fact that the person who wrote it was a woman, and that shit wasn't going to fly very well with the male dominants of the day. There's a lot of vocal shift going on.
