I got my mother's ashes today. So strange how little space the human body takes up like that. I did not want to touch it at first. I don't have weird hang-ups about death, but this was odd. That is not where she's supposed to be.

I think, as much as I think it of my own eventual end, that it's not so much death that bothers me, it's more the idea of not being alive, of not being in the world any longer.

It's a nice urn, and a lovely pouch.
