For a while, after I deleted my Twitter account and before I started using my Bluesky account instead, I was keeping my bits and pieces on my Tumblr, which I also no longer use. These are those bits and pieces.
03 - In honour of yesterday being the 41st anniversary of the last time I went to confession, I’d like to confess that it took me an embarrassingly long time to realise just what Grace Jones meant by "pull up to the bumper", "long, black limousine", and "slide it in between".
06 - I am tickled by the fact that the taxi app changed all the car icons to sleighs.
11 - I was binge-watching Veronica Mars and the same thing occurred to me that occurs to me every time I watch it - what’s with all the markedly coloured glass or coloured light through it? In her home, Keith’s office, the high school, Logan’s hotel room, the college. It’s everywhere.
12 - I was just thinking about Blazing Saddles and that line "You use your tongue purdier than a $20 whore." I have questions. Just exactly how much was a whore in the time period that film depicts? (research) Could demand up to $50 apparently, but most on the frontier were between $1 (or less) and $5.
13 - Every once in a while I have to pose the greatest philosophical question known to man, and I will keep doing it until I get a satisfactory answer: How easy do you have to be, to be easy like a Sunday morning?
15 - One of the best days ever was the day I learned about server-side includes.
15 - That time I made my own version of the Four Noble Truths (over 20 years ago).
- Shit happens.
- You will feel something about the shit.
- It is your choice how you react to, and because of, the shit.
- No shit, good or bad, lasts forever.
16 - I wonder how many calories you can burn chair dancing.
18 - After all these years, the login for my university website still works. Most unanticipated - as was the fact I still remember my student ID number.
18 - When I was little I used to think "clandestine" meant "casual". Don’t ask me why.
18 - Whenever I have to test my computer’s audio after whatever fucking around I’ve fucked around with, this is the video I use. One of my very favourite things in the whole wide world is going to his shows and hearing this live: Gary Numan - Are Friends Electric (Hope Bleeds DVD)>
20 - I’m just tired enough to admit that for some reason that I do not know, I used to think huevos rancheros was testicles.
30 - I’m liking the look of the new start menu. Much cleaner than tiles. I never used live tiles, so losing that functionality is meaningless. The only thing that still irks me, is the fact you can’t move the taskbar to the top. My muscle memory is getting used to the bottom, but my eyes don’t like it.
