For a while, after I deleted my Twitter account and before I started using my Bluesky account instead, I was keeping my bits and pieces on my Tumblr, which I also no longer use. These are those bits and pieces.

01 - All the times I've seen the show in the past month, and I only just realised yesterday that Hector Elizondo is in an episode of Night Heat. How does something like that even happen.

01 - Easy wins make other wins easier.

01 - don't be a noun. Be a verb.

01 - If I had to hide something from the cops, I know precisely where I'd put it. It's a place I've never seen anyone search for anything on any cop show ever.

07 - I have just come up with a GenX Squid Game - live action adult-sized versions of the games we used to play ... like Simon, Operation, Mousetrap, Hungry Hungry Hippo, and Kerplunk.

07 - I no longer buy from Starbucks. But if I still were, and was wanting to buy a house (which I don't want to do), and was taking the financial advice from the rutabagas that think coffee consumption is the root of all evils, it would take me about 2000 years to save up, say, $50,000 towards a down payment. Why? Because I only drink Starbucks every few months, so at 4 times a year, at about $6 a cup...

07 - There's a guy on TikTok who keeps asking women “What's your plan B if no one marries you?” Dude. Art supplies and books. That's also my plan A.

07 - I'm embarrassed to admit just how long it took for it to dawn on me what the MC in MC5 stood ford.

07 - Someone in my riding needs to run for the Rhino Party so I have something worth voting for next year.[[MORE]]

10 - I really wish someone would upload the Canadian ‘80s series Airwaves so I could watch it.

10 - Despite being an atheist (and now also antitheist) most of my life, I've never spent much time in atheist spaces because I never felt the need to have my lack of belief confirmed or supported, nor did I have any need to find ways to argue believers about it. There's nothing for me to justify.

10 - One of the great mysteries of take-out is this: Why on earth is the dipping sauce so frequently served with pizza a tomato-based sauce since the pizzas themselves are most frequently already drowning in a tomato-based sauce?

10 - Things that annoy the shit out of me: How many clicks it takes for me to get into my CRA account. 5. 5 fucking clicks.

10 - Most recent addition to the TBR pile:

finnegan's wake

12 - When I was really little I misunderstood the title of the movie To Sir, With Love. I thought "sir" was a verb, and spent years wondering what it meant.

12 - I miss the charm of late-night and weekend TV in the '80s, and all the gawdawful drive-in films they used to show.

12 - I don't want to be congratulated for doing the right thing.

12 - You can tell immediately the state of dissemination of information, how much people are paying attention, their general knowledge, and their ability to do any kind of digging about for information, by how quickly they bitch about that no one's talking about something ... that's been known to many for weeks, months, years, and talked about widely. That should be the indicator to you that you are living in ignorance and uninformed.

12 - Experiment:

  1. My phone is about a pen's length away from my computer monitor showing a blog post.

12 - The latest addition to the art supplies collection, a set of gucai paints from China with no colour names either online or in the packaging. I"m going to wait for the next sunny day so I can properly make up names of my own. With pans like that, I use a Sharpie to write any info on the bottom and/or sides.

Addendum: I put the image through an online translator that can read off images and got something usable for most of them. I think I might still make up my own though.

20 - If I hear that fucking Beyonce song one more god damned time...

20 - I got one of those prepaid Visa cards from Canada Post because I thought it might come in handy. Turns out, while you can receive direct deposits to it, you can't send payments out - like email money transfers - so it makes the entire thing worthless. I just called them to cancel it, because if I can't make payments out of it it's useless to me, and got told the only way to do so is to email scans of the front and back of the card to the actual backbone program being used by Canada Post. Email. He wanted me to just willy nilly email pictures of a card - and then he got mad when I told him how bullshit I thought that was.

20 - I once met someone who thought that the term nib, in relation to pens/markers, only referred to those with felt tips.

20 - "If someone's liberation bothers you, then you likely benefit from their oppression." - Unknown

20 - I saw a woman protesting at an event in the US, shouting at people that their tax money was killing Palestinian children - and someone in the audience of that event said "They should die." How pukingly vile. What on earth is wrong with these people.

20 - One wonders why, after the Vorlons sodded off, there was no story about attempts to go to their home world to see what the what was.

21 - The grocery delivery guy accidentally gave me someone else's package of whole wheat pita bread. Now I feel obligated to find something to stuff in them.

21 - It's hard to tell the difference, sometimes, between two stray cats fucking, or two stray cats fighting.

21 - I have 14 bras. Is that a lot?

21 - I always wished I could vote Green because that's my favourite colour, but I had aligned myself elsewhere. Glad that thread got cut. If I vote at all next election, it’ll be Green.

21 - A GenZ on TikTok was listing things you should not put in your vagina. I'd like to add the following:

  • bitcoin bros
  • any man whose idea of toilet paper is napkins from the fast food joint next door
  • Libertarians

20 - Conservative governments in Canada don't have to take a woman's rights to abortion away by law in order to take them away - all they have to do is keep underfunding healthcare, till the systems are so starved for cash they can't afford to offer the services Canadians deserve.

23 - Silence is violence.

23 - Sometimes I find myself annoyed by something I should have forgotten long since, but still crops up now and then. Most annoying.

23 - Laundry is such a time suck.

23 - I get irrationally annoyed watching old TV shows and how they talk about hara kiri instead of using the word seppuku.

23 - Everything is hard until it isn't.

26 - Sometimes I wish I could remember the first time I experienced something - the first time I heard a song, saw a show - and remember what it was that caught me. I'm rewatching the original The Prisoner.

26 - don't confuse someone's free time with their availability.

26 - Today I'm washing my socks. That's a thing I'm doing today.

26 - I was unreasonably happy the other day when I realised the grocery store had cappuccino-flavoured yoghurt.

26 - o/~ And it's only the giving that makes you what you are o/~ - Jethro Tull

26 - Latest acquisitions:

30 - The funniest thing I've seen this week is a woman pretending she's being detained, swarmed, and harassed by students at a Palestinian/divestment encampment in the US, and complaining to the cops on the phone about it - as someone in the clearly open path behind her strolls past carrying a yoga mat.

30 - Ugh. First skunk of the year.

30 - I just ate pudding with a fork.

30 - The only reason the Liberal party keeps having to trot out their "more to do" BS, is because they never finish the job to begin with.

30 - Sometimes I think I'm downing chocolate milk like other women down a bottle of wine.

30 - How can you fall asleep halfway through typing a sentence?

30 - My knee is sticky.

30 - Today's loud music from a passing car: AC/DC - Back In Black (Official Video)

30 - "If you could address the student protestors in America, what would be your message to them?"

"These aren't students. They're teachers. They're using those campuses for what they're truly supposed to be used for. Education. Refinement. Upliftment. Intellectual, cultural, and moral excellence. For taking people out of ignorance into understanding." - Shahid King Bolsen
