The idea of acts of rebellion has been coming up a lot more of late. People think of that as revolution, or belligerence, being anti-authority. Maybe some of that is true, but it's not the only thing. If you want to stick it to capitalism, to a world working harder than is sometimes believable to take your energy and fight away from you, do something that isn't wage-slaving. There are things that don't involve much, if any, money, things that you could do with what you already have. Fill your time with things that bring you even a small amount of joy, and don't listen to people who tell you to monetise that joy.

Here are some things that don't involve much, if any, money:

art, beachcombing, birdwatching / bird-listening, book reclamation or repurposing, button gathering, calligraphy, cleaning for the disabled and elderly, cleaning up the local park, conlang, creating comics, creating games, drawing, ephemera gathering, exploring, fossil hunting, found object art, geocaching, graffiti or street art spotting, hand lettering, hiking, information/word games, journalling, junk journals, knot tying, learning a new language, making infused teas, map-making, memorabilia gathering, mineral gathering, mudlarking, nature journalling, ocean glass gathering, orienteering, origami, painting, paper-crafting, photography, rail fanning, rock-hounding, rock painting, running, scrapbooking, scrounging, signal games, singing, songwriting, string arts, sudoku, swimming, upcycling, urban exploration, verse, volunteering at the food bank, walking in the woods, world building, writing, yoga
