I acquired a method of (so I'm told) contacting MPs directly that bypasses their office and goes straight to them. I took advantage of that to contact the Prime Minister regarding some topics of significance, import, or interest.
Greetings, Mr. Carney.
Canada has, or thinks it has, a reputation for acceptance, welcoming, inclusion, and kindness. But how can we be any of those things if we continue to be so morally bankrupt as to not actually step in and stop what the Israelis are doing to Palestinians, and what the rest of the world - including us - is helping to do to Congo, Sudan, and others. We all have our suspicions as to why that is, and I don't need to tell you what they are. you're not a stupid man.
Every day, I have to work to make sure I don't vomit about what's happening in Gaza right this very minute, and what will happen to what's left of the Palestinian population in the West Bank. It's so sickening, vile, heinous, grotesque, evil. All the money we donate for aid means absolutely nothing if that aid never gets to the people who need it, so making noise about aid means nothing but putting a glossy shine on a rusted rig. It looks good on top, but underneath it's rotten.
Sitting back and watching this play out is horrifying, and doing nothing is morally reprehensible. English does not have sufficient adjectives for the level of evil on display here - but it does have words enough for those who are complicit in letting it continue, and in fostering it in any way. I don't personally care, in this instance, about the honourability of keeping to a contract with the devil. Dancing with the devil because you signed up is still dancing with the devil. Does he deserve our honour? No. But the Palestinians do.
I know the colonising history of this country and what it has done to the first peoples. I also know that supporting Palestine directly (and thereby fighting against Israel) sets a precedent a lot of colonising nations probably don't want to set. If we acknowledge what Israel is doing, and fight against it, then we have to acknowledge - in a much deeper way - our own histories of colonisation and genocide.
Maybe we should do that. Maybe we should actually gird up that moral backbone and do something. Stop bantering about a two-state solution. Israel has gone and buggered that all to hell. Not that anyone should have had any sympathy for their so-called "plight” anyhow. I'm sure you know what Churchill said about Palestine and its people. Do we really need to honour that man's opinion? No. We don't. He's dead. He's part of a past that we're stuck with, but he doesn't have to be part of a future we build.
Do something, Mr. Carney. Please fucking do something to stop Israel before there's no sign of Palestine left other than blood stains on rubble and the same mass graves found when the camps were liberated after WWII.
PS: I wrote this before China dropped aid. I'm guessing China is going to do more. We should have done more months ago. We should be welcoming Palestinians with open arms after seizing any monies held by Zionist entities and using it to help Palestine. Maybe now that we have a more powerful world military actually doing something, we can partner with them and do whatever it takes to get the right job done.

Greetings, Prime Minister Carney.
Regarding my previous letter about Palestine and reports of China's aid drops:
While I am embarrassed to have fallen for a piece of information that I've learned is untrue, it's still a lesson: I was more able, perhaps through desperation for good news, to believe another country had done something we haven't (than I was able to believe we would).
That's embarrassing too, shaming in fact, to us as a nation.
