Road trip

I've never actually been on a long-distance road trip. Something I regret, but that's the way the cookie crumbles and all. So, while this is nowhere near long, it certainly is odd.

My friend Diane and I went to Buffalo (it's only about an hour's drive) to get a talking Stimpy doll. Us poor, unfortunate Canadian types were denied talking Stimpy dolls, so we had to cross the border to get one. Whilst there we amazed the lady at the lunch counter by asking for mayo to put on our hotdogs - a heretofore unheard thing, mehinks. And on the way back, we amused the border guard, who took one look in the back seat of the car after asking us our purpose for visiting the US that day, and waved us on through without fanfare. I suspect he'd seen many talking Stimpy dolls before.

Buffalo is a land of weird wonder. On another road trip there to see a friend DJ at a club, Diane's car was broken into and her radio stolen. Nice criminals unhooked instead of cutting the wires, piled everything neatly in the front seat that they'd taken out of the glove box, and I believe they even folded up the blanket in the back seat.
