Postcard
Create a postcard-sized (or sticky note-sized) piece of art each day for a set period of time and create a mosaic/grid work of art at the end.
Print:
Using stone, or wood stump with exposed rings, as a printing surface, apply paint/ink, place paper on it, and rub it gently with your hands, back of a spoon, or roller.
Temperature
Start a temperature blanket that you knit, crochet, or quilt over the course of a set period of time.
Doodle a day
Do a doodle a day and turn them into a grid at the end of the month.
Still Life:
Make a still life of your favourite snack or drink, of mechanical things, or using only shades of one colour.
Graffiti:
Learn how to do some graffiti art, even if it's just on paper.
Distort:
Manually distort printed images to create something glitchy, pixelated, or distorted in some other way.
Monochrome study:
Black and white, greyscale, sepia, or any monochrome you like, in any medium you like. Even text.
Layering:
Practice layering with transparent washes of watercolour or thin layers of acrylic.
Recreate:
Recreate a famous artwork in a simplified form - simpler shapes, fewer colours, etc.
Everyday:
Recreate a famous artwork in whatever size or format you like, using everyday objects.
Shadow:
Trace shadows cast by various objects, and use them to create a surreal landscape.
Drawing:
Use a drawing material of choice to take various rubbings that you can turn into a larger work.
Paint:
Use a squeegee to apply paints to paper and move it/them around. Use those shapes to make something else.
See-through:
Use translucent/transparent materials to create some layered art.
Subtract:
Work with a medium that is subtractive, like an eraser or bleach. If using a medium like bleach, you can use cotton swabs to draw with.
Chalk:
Decorate the sidewalk in front of your home with some sidewalk chalk art or a cheering phrase.
Ugly:
Create an ugly art/visual journal page. Use shapes, textures, and colours you hate, things that clash, abandoned items from other pages, etc.
Wearable:
Create a wearable art piece such as a hat, scarf, or jewellery using unconventional materials.
Charms:
Combine gems, beads, wire, decorative string, and other ephemera, to create charms for people's car rear-view mirrors, or just their windows at home.
Reassemblage:
Cut up images into strips or squares, and reassemble them randomly, or in a misaligned order and then glue them onto a substrate.
Jewellery:
Create a piece of jewellery from old watch parts, bottle caps, etc.
Mobile:
Build a mobile with found objects, old jewellery, mismatched cutlery, etc.
Old:
Combine whole or parts of old, abandoned, and/or unfinished projects into something completely new - include written and visual together.
Sculpture:
Build sculptures from sticks, stones, leaves, and other natural elements and leave them out in the wild.
Floating:
Make a floating collage using lighter weight materials suspended in a frame by fishing line, sturdy thread, or embroidery floss.
Jewelle-re:
Create a sculpture using old jewellery pieces.
Mosaic:
Make a mosaic from old tiles, glass, or stone.
