Reader:

Invent a new word or three for emotions that don't have names yet - like the frustration or sadness of when you have to close the book you're reading because you have to sleep.

Prompted:

Choose a book. Keeping your eyes closed, open the book to a random page and put your finger down. Whatever the word/phrase is that you land on is your creation prompt.

Blackout:

Using a damaged book, magazine, or piece of junk mail, create a blackout piece, glue it to a stiffer card back, and mail it to a friend - or someone who needs a pick-me-up - anonymously.

TBR:

Big TBR pile? Make it a project to read the first page of a different unread book.

Altered:

Transform old books into works of art by altering their pages, covers, and bindings through collage, painting, cutting, folding, blackout, and more.

Random:

Turn to any page of a book and choose one sentence at random and use it as a creative prompt in some way for your journal, a piece of art, or a song.

Unread:

Devote your day to reading a book you've been wanting to read but haven't gotten around to.

Challenge:

Engage in a reading challenge with friends or family

Started:

Finish a book you started but haven't completed.

Finished:

Leave a book or magazine you've finished reading on a public bench or in a waiting room.

Pick a book you enjoyed that's never been made into a film, and cast its film.

Take yourself on a solo reading date in a local botanical garden or park.

Think of a scene from a book. Illustrate it in some way. Describe it.

Enjoy a book, song, or poem set in or around your hometown.

Cut out shapes or words from book pages and attach them to a mobile structure, creating a kinetic art piece.

Redesign the cover of a favourite book.
