Creative Idea of the Day - 2025 08
Every day on my Idealog account on Bluesky - except for the days I forget - I share a quick creative idea and archive the month's list here on the last day.
- Never been in there before? Go in there.
- Capture triumph.
- Draw a favourite animal or insect and exaggerate one feature.
- For each letter of the alphabet, write about a topic that starts with that letter.
- Listen to a new podcast or audiobook.
- Write about something you're proud of.
- Go on a virtual road trip via mapcrunch.com, randomstreetview.com, driveandlisten.herokuapp.com, or drivenlisten.com.
- Using an old magazine, cut parts out of one page to reveal what's on the next through the cut out. Do multiple layers and multiple cut outs, combine images and text, texture and colour.
- Make a collage of all the things you'd hate to wake up in the morning and find you ran out of.
- Put together a story from the first (and/or last) lines of your favourite books and stories.
- When I want to be alone, I.
- Capture an image of a unique piece of architecture.
- Do it today. Do it tomorrow. Do it always. Do it never. Do it next. Do it first. Do it last. Do it again.
- DIY bath bombs.
- Make a list (and find or create the images if you want) of things that would be great album/book covers.
- Using 52 photos you took yourself, create your own deck of cards.
- Make a collage quilt by stitching together fabric scraps and paper ephemera.
- Quote a film.
- Sketch a self-portrait in different shades of your favourite colour(s).
- What's your favourite travel memory?
- Plans for a fancy dinner you make for just you.
- Enjoy a book, song, or poem set in or around your hometown.
- Experiment with found object art.
- Create a piece using only dots.
- What language would you like to learn? Start.
- As the world goes by you outside a car window, or the bus, or the train, imagine 30-second vignettes you see as stories, poems, or something else.
- The best things in life are.
- Make a seasonal wreath using recycled materials, broken items, or found objects.
- Learn one of the many ways to marble paper.
- Design some quilting squares, even if you never make them, or the quilt, or make them on paper and frame it.
- Put together an analogue bag to carry with you of things to keep you from reaching for the digital. You could add puzzle books, simple art supplies like a sketchbook and watercolour/gouache paints, pocket-sized and one person games, a journal/planner, cards, etc.
