Cut and placed
Instead of the usual style of blacking out with a material that obscures the text underneath, use a craft knife to cut away the words you’d normally have covered up.
Save the cut pieces for a future project.
You could layer the lace-like paper that remains over another written piece, an image of some kind, a photograph of a person or place, an abstract selection of colours, or even a solid one.
If doing something like that, you could have the poem and image be related, or even not related at all.
You could also:
Use a book or magazine and cut away bits of text and image to reveal what’s on the page behind. Do this page after page, to create a multi-level piece.
