Re-masterpiece

You will need:

  • images of well-known artworks
  • white paint, gesso, or other similar material that can be used to cover an image
  • glue, glue pens, or other appropriate adhesive
  • scissors, craft knife, or other cutting tool
  • brushes, pens, paints, coloured pencils, and other art materials

Do:

Get an image of a well-known painting, preferably something with an obvious central figure - though you can do whatever you prefer.

You are going to either remove, or cover up, the central figure of that piece of art with any means you prefer, replacing it with something else you've created but in such a way that it interacts as imperceptibly as possible with what remains of the image.

You can white out the selection you want to remove before you start creating on it, or simply create right over the chosen area.

You could also collage images of multiple art pieces together to create your own hybrid "masterpiece".
